Toshiba Machines Transformer

With everything under the sun “transforming” nowadays, it was only a matter of time before someone asked me to do one for them. Toshiba Machine is a company that makes these crazy huge milling machines. In October they had a trade show in Toronto where they were revealing the newest addition to their product line, the TUE-200s.

The plan was to have their new machine "transform" on two big screens at the launch event and then proceed to tell the audience about all his new features. So with about 7 weeks to deliver, I got started. This was another gig that went straight from design all the way through. The presentation was about four minutes long, and this is just a small clip of it, without the final colour or sound.

Once I had the base model built I had to bust it up. This was the first time I tried animating all of the pieces to see how many parts I had to work with. There were to many, then there was panic, this test made me drink more coffee.
